Attention all gymnasts & parents: Our regular Booster Club Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. and held at Flyaways. Everyone is welcome to attend. Current minutes are posted here. If you would like to receive Booster Club information and announcements via e-mail, please forward your e-mail address to Lisa Simon, your Booster Club President and ask to have your e-mail address added to the list of recipients! This is a fast and easy way to receive current Booster Club information and eventually, we hope it will help us save money on distributing so many paper copies! Flyaways Parent Booster Club is a non-profit organization created to support Flyaways competition team gymnasts and parents. The Flyaways Parent Booster Club is for all parents of team gymnasts including girls on the Training Team and levels 4-5-6-7-8-9-10, as well as boys on the Dream Team and Levels 5-6-7. We invite and encourage all team parents to attend Booster Club meetings and participate in volunteer activities. Booster Club Goals:
Booster Club Executive Board 2004-2006: President: Lisa Simon emailSecretary: Jill SchaferThe Executive Board members are elected to two year terms. Elections are held prior to the start of the fall season. Other Board Members 2004-2005:
Level Representatives: A Level Representative acts as a liaison between the Flyaways Parent Booster Club and the parents/families of the team gymnasts. Responsibilities include attending Booster Club meetings, communicating Booster Club information to parents and/or gymnasts, posting meet scores, reporting injuries or major illnesses of gymnasts and purchasing gifts for first time competitors or gymnasts with major injuries or illnesses (gifts to be approved by Booster Club Executive Board). New Level Reps are nominated and then elected each year by the team parents for a one year term. Elections are held prior to the start of the fall season. Level Rep responsibilities include posting meet scores on the team bulletin board, assisting in communication between coaches and parents, assisting in coordinating volunteers for hosted meets, and communicating concerns/ideas from team parents to the Board. Membership Fee: A $40.00 Booster Club membership fee per gymnast is required of all team gymnasts. Similar to Flyaways registration policy, families with more than two team gymnasts will have the membership fee waived for the third team gymnast and any additional team gymnasts. Checks are to be made out to the Flyaways Booster Club and turned into the Flyaways receptionist by November 1st. The membership fees are used to fund the annual banquet as well as gifts for first time competitors, coaches gifts, State competitor gifts, gifts for injured gymnasts, etc... Organization Status: The Flyaways Booster Club was established in 1988 and is a non-profit tax exempt organization. By-laws were established in 1988 and can be made available upon written request. Meetings: Booster Club meetings will be held the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m at Flyaways with additional meetings as necessary to plan and coordinate fundraising efforts. All team parents are invited and encouraged to attend Booster Club meetings as well as participate in volunteer activities. As per the Booster Club by-laws, at least three (3) Board officers (Executive Board and Level Reps) and two (2) additional Booster Club members are required to be present to vote on any issue in order for the vote to be valid. Fundraising: All fundraising is completely optional. All profit raised from individual fundraising, minus any fundraising expenses, will be put into the gymnast’s individual account. Typical individual fundraisers are the evergreen & poinsettia sale, candy bar sale, spring flower sale, food stands, etc…. The Booster Club has been given the opportunity to host the annual Halloween Ghost & Goblin Compulsory Meet. This is a special fundraising event which requires many volunteer hours but can potentially be very profitable. All profit received from the event will be equally divided by the number of volunteer hours served. Profits will then be distributed into the individual accounts of the volunteers once all costs are accounted for from the event. Individual Accounts: The Booster Club Treasurer keeps an individual account record for each gymnast/family. Profits from individual fundraising will be put into the individual accounts. These proceeds can be used to pay for any gymnastics related expenses for team gymnasts only including uniforms, meet fees, coaching fees, travel to out state meets, etc... with an approved voucher. Proceeds cannot be used for expenses of non-team members, siblings or friends. An individual account statement will be issued monthly for accounts with activity and quarterly for accounts that have not had any activity since the previous statement. Accounts can be carried over from year to year. However, if a gymnast chooses to leave Flyaways, the account will be deemed inactive and unused funds will be forfeited and transferred into the general account fund within 90 days of departure. Gymnasts that return to the team program within the 90 days will have their accounts fully reinstated. General Account: The Treasurer will manage the Booster Club general account for membership fees, general expenses, banquet expenses, hosted meet receivables and expenses, etc... The general account balance will be posted on the team bulletin board as well as noted in the Booster Club meetings. The President, Treasurer and Fundraising Chairperson have spending authorization up to a limit of $50.00 for general Booster Club expenses. All major purchases must be authorized by the Booster Club Board of Directors. Expense reports are available from the receptionist and can be submitted to the Booster Club for approved Booster Club expenses. |
