Girls Developmental Classes:

CURRENT CLASS SCHEDULE AND RATES

Developmental class curriculum is specifically designed to meet the needs of girls aged five and up.  We hold three 14-week terms during the school year, and one 7-week term during the summer.

Term 1:  Aug 28-Dec 3, 2011                    Term 3:  Mar 18-Jun 23, 2012

Term 2:  Dec 4-Mar 17, 2012                     Term 4:  Jun 24-Aug 18, 2012


Beginner                                 55 minutes

Introduction to basic body shapes and skills, arm positions and terminology. Gymnast will train on all four events as well as receive an introduction to strength training and flexibility.

Intermediate I                          55 minutes

Building on the skills learned in Beginner, students will add more progressions to the basic body shapes, arm positioning, and terminology, gymnasts will focus on technique of learned and new skills as well as exploring more strength training and flexibility. Must have a Cartwheel and a Forward roll upon entrance of class.

Intermediate II                         55 minutes

Girls Developmental Classes in gymnastics at Flyaways Gold in Forest Lake, MN

Continuing to build skill development using safe progressions, gymnasts will polish techniques of learned and new skills while continuing strength and flexibility, in addition to learning dance basics. Must be able to do a Pullover and a Backward Roll upon entrance of class.

Intermediate III                       85 minutes

Polishing the basic body shapes within progressive skill development, and providing more advanced arm positioning and terminology, gymnasts at this level will focus on techniques in the areas of strength, flexibility, and dance while learning more advanced skills. Must be able to do a Pullover and a Handstand upon entrance of class.

Advanced I                            85 minutes

Learning more advanced body shapes, arm positioning, and terminology, athletes will train more progressions that lead to advanced skill level in the areas of flexibility, dance, and strength.  They'll continue to add new skills while maintaining skills previously mastered. Must be able to do a Backbend Kick over and a Back-hip Circle upon entrance of class.

Advanced II                          115 minutes

Adding form and technique to the advanced body shapes and arm positioning, gymnasts will learn connections of skills and dance that will add more difficulty to their skill level while maintaining skills already learned. Must be able to do a Front-Hip Circle and Back-walkover upon entrance of class.

Advanced III                          115 minutes

Advanced polishing of form and technique incorporating greater skill development. Strength, dance, and flexibility are a main focus for students of this level as well as increased aptitude in skill connection. Must be able to do a Pull-Up Pullover on High Bar, Round-off, and a Horizontal Cast on Low Bar upon entrance of class.

Advanced III+                        115 minutes

Strength, flexibility and dance skills are brought to a higher level aiming toward High School level gymnastics. More difficult skill combinations will be trained on bars, beam, and floor while on vault your athlete will train for accelerated speed and power. Requirements include back handspring and a front-hip circle on bars upon entrance to class.

High School Training               115 minutes

This group is for all gymnasts in grades 7-12 interested in training off season for high school gymnastics, no matter what High School she attends.  Instructors are skilled spotters and knowledgeable in Minnesota State High School League rules.
